Hi there! This is my personal website. I value your privacy and only collect the bare minimum information needed to make this site work for you.

 

1. Information I Collect

When you use this site, I may collect the following information:

  • Voluntary info: If you fill out my “Request Access” form, I collect your name.
  • Automatic info: To provide secure access, my system automatically logs your IP address when you submit the request.
  • Push notifications (optional): If you add this site to your phone’s home screen and turn notifications on, I store a browser push endpoint and encryption keys for that device, plus a short note of the browser and device type and when the subscription was last seen. No name or email is collected with that subscription.

 

2. Why I Collect This (The “Access Pass”)

I use your IP address to create a “whitelist.” Once I approve your request, my server recognizes your IP so you can view protected content without having to enter a password every time. This is strictly for access control and security.

 

3. Cookies

I use one small, secure cookie to help remember your device. This ensures that if your IP address changes slightly, you don’t get locked out. This cookie does not track you on other websites; it only works here.

 

4. Push Notifications

Notifications are off unless you turn them on. I use the stored subscription only to tell you when a new journal entry is published. The message includes the entry title and a link back to this site.

Delivery goes through your browser’s push service (Apple, Google, Mozilla, or Microsoft, depending on the device). The message is encrypted, so that service cannot read it. The subscription is not used to track you on other websites.

I delete it when you turn notifications off, or when the browser reports that the subscription is no longer valid.

 

5. Data Sharing

I do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties. Your access-request data stays in my website’s database. The only handoff is the encrypted notification sent to your browser’s push service, which is required to deliver the alert.

 

6. Your Rights

If you want your info deleted, your IP removed from my whitelist, or your notification subscription removed, please reach out at doantmichael [at] gmail.
